Christmas tree dashboard!!

Hi all,

I was driving along the other day, stuck in traffic, when all of a sudden all (or nearly all) of the lights on the dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree, and the radio turned off for a split second. Then everything almost immediately went back to normal. A few minutes later the same thing happened again. Then on the third time, the engine cut out. When I started it again, it fired first time and hasn't shown any similar signs since.

Has anyone else had a similar problem to this?

Thanks,

Tom

Battery and/or alternator.

I replaced both, as mine was still showing enormous peaks & troughs from the alternator. Don't think it's a simple voltage regulatory change as on older alternators - as I believe it's all part of the alternator now.

I think the replacement alternator (with the original as exchange) was about £250 (non-BMW of course).

It could be that the car is actually haunted.

This has happened a few times when technicians at Spartanburg were accidentally killed while building these cars.

The hauntings can manifest themselves in many different ways from sticky steering, broken rear springs, high oil consumption or broken window regulators.

As this is a new type of haunting I'll get the Z4 paranormal team on the case. They'll be in touch.

Of course it could just be a battery issue. See that you fitted an Aux / iPhone socket. Could that be related?
