Christmas is ruined!

Bah and Humbag. At half one today, after most local tyre fitting places have closed along with most of the mobile fitting services (all until Tuesday), I get a flat tyre. Its the *same* f***ing wheel that has had a flat twice in the last 8 months and on each occasion cost me around £200 for a Continental 255/40 ZR18 to replace it... Its completely flat.

I can't explain why it could be the same wheel. Are there any issues with wheel alignment that could cause a flat more than once on the same wheel?

I have an M so have no spare (and no gunk left). P***sed off to say the least. I now have to travel everywhere this Christmas as a passenger in my girlfriends car. I hate to sound anti social but driving my own car to each place for xmas is half the fun for me.. nice and cozy at the drivers wheel. Now ruined. Rant over. Hope everyone else is having more luck this Christmas!!

That's a PITA
Where abouts are you as I'm sure someone can lend you their gunk.

Is it the rear NS wheel as most occur there? Debris is flicked out the gutter and stood up by the front wheel to be punctured by the rear.

Just managed to find the one mobile tyre place still open which can do it, but as they were just about to close they are charging me £350 (!!!)

So £150 over asking price or waiting 5 days for another one... thats how much I want to drive this xmas!

Bah!

OOh that sounds a little steep, especially as they haven't actually closed yet!

I'd wait for 5 days, and instead get your GF to drive and have a sherry/mould wine/brandy or any other alcoholic beverage at every stop to substitue for the car.

In any case it might not be a bad idea not to be driving our Zeds in this weather - I'd hate to skid mine into another car....

Flat tyres seem to work like this unfortunately. For me it was 6 years, no flats...then I bought the M3 - three flats in two weeks, two of which were repairable...and that was followed by 3 years, no flats. So it may seem right now like the car is prone to it but it will probably just be a run of bad luck!

Hope you get it sorted soon.

mould wine

That doesn't sound too nice ;)

If all else fails, spend the extra 150 pounds on a 4wd Hire car, beat it like a rented mule, spin a few hundred 360's and take it back later. Then fix your tire at a normal rate.

Thanks for the offer and suggestions.. turns out their "depot was closed" so they couldn't do it after all so will have to wait till Tuesday.. at least on the bright side I can drink and be a passenger for once 8)

I've got 4 wheels and tyres sat in my garage taking up space. If you are anywhere near Preston you are welcome to borrow one for a few days or even the full set if yours are non standard. I've got a full can of gunk too if that helps.

To be honest though, my Z4MC hasn't turned a wheel since I took it out a week ago and I didn't feel safe doing more than 10mph on the snow and ice. The benefit of being without the car is you don't half look forward to driving it again.
