Christmas Holiday Ideas?

Thinking of spending Christmas abroad as its the only time for the next year or so that me and the Mrs have off together.

Does anyone have any ideas for a cheap one week all-incl. holiday (from 20th December). Yes I know everything is more expensive at the time of year. Has anyone been anywhere for Christmas in the past that they would recommend? :poke:

Advice welcome.

Not exactly Christmas but just booked up the first week in December in a 2 bed villa, heated pool, own grounds, etc. in Gran Canaria. Weather should be good. Best bit it's £550 for BOTH including good flights from Brum. Add a car for £85 and all set

Bargains out there.

£550? does that include flights? if so, that is well cheap :o

Yep - sure does - Villa, 2 flights, all taxes, baggage, etc. so all in at £275 each is a hell of a deal. Cheaper than 2 nights DBB in a reasonable UK hotel

Went via James Villa Holidays

will give them a try. thanks for the tip

EDIT: cheapest I could find was £1100pp. My hunt continues...

I've spent Christmas abroad for the last 10-12 years. This year I'll be in Dubai. That's a very nice place to go. A couple of years ago I was sunbathing on the beach there when I heard bells ringing, looked up and Santa Claus was riding a camel down the beach
Last year I was in Miami, but if i'm honest it was a little bit chilly! Still a great place to go though if you are not bothered about it being red hot. Still sunbathing weather though but had to get covered up sometimes. And at night time it was cool enough to wear a jacket. I do love American countries at Christmas though. It's a great atmosphere. Hawaii is probably the best place I've been to for Christmas but it's a bit more further a field and costs more. I don't really think it can be done cheaply.

i would love to go back to india, too far for 1 week though

Wow ... you are the first person I have ever met to have said that. I have to pay excessively for others to go to India instead of me as my one trip of 10 days was a once and never again.

Oz... Nothing better than having a barbie on the beach at Christmas (followed by a barbecue when you've worked up an appetite :D )

i prefer to go to poor areas, i would love to do a trip to thailand, cambodia, laos and vietnam, its not until you see how others live that you truely realise how lucky we are

I must be the odd ball .......... :D might be something to do with the fact that Ive spent half of my life working in deserts (the sun is not your friend, it kills you :) ) ........ for me the perfect Christmas trip is Norway/Alaska where there's loads of snow, reindier, sleighs and everybody getting shitfaced ..........
