ive just been browsing ph with an imaginary budget of 15k and there are a lot of great cars in this price range, i always look ahead for my next car and i cant believe whats available - jag xkr, porsche 911, Maserati's, tvr's and so on. im torn between fast saloons such as a type uk wrx sti (boy hood dream car was a 22b) or sports coupe's such as an elise. even m3's are in this range but servicing costs scare the hell out of me on things like that, same story on tvr's

the zed will stay until next summer at least, is it possible to feel like your cheating on your car as i do - weird!

You may be able to afford to buy a £15k car, but don't forget that you'll be servicing a £100k car :P

well the 911 is totally insane, just an example of whats out there. youd probably need another £15k in reserve for when something goes bang.

As has been mentioned just remember to factor in servicing, tyres, fuel, insurance, road tax and so on!

I had a Lotus Esprit S4 a few years. Bought it for £20k and it cost me £6k in the first year just to keep it on the road! :(

It soon went! :D

My worst (from that perspective) was the E34 M5: paid 8 grand for it and spent another 8 grand on it in 18 months ... and nothing broke! :!:

Absolutely lovely car to drive though!

indeed service costs kind of kill the idea of a cheap bonkers car. after a bit of digging a decent subaru impreza circa 1996 is probably what im after, cheap ish to buy, and not astronomical to service. always wanted one and i think i can justify having one and keeping the zed.
