Choice of tyres

I'm getting some new wheels (APEX ARC8 8.5x18 ET38 Fronts & 9.5x18 ET22 Rears) and the recommended tyre sizes are 235/40/18F & 265/35/18R. I wanted to fit Michelin Pilot Super Sports (MPSS) but, unfortuneately, Michelin do not supply these sizes in the UK / Europe (only in USA).

So, what tyres should I order? Eagle F1 AS2's, Pirelli P Zero, Vred Ultrac Vorti or Michelin PS3 seem to be options that are commonly available.

Looking for comments or recommendations from anyone with experience of these size tyres. :)

Of your listed choices I'd take the F1 AS2 over the others. I believe Pilot Sport Cup 2 are being made in the sizes you're looking for (but are/will be about £100 a corner more).

The other alternative is to go to OEM sizes (225/45 & 255/40) - or go up a bit more (235/45 & 265/40). Both of these options are available in PSS.

I had ordered the 235/45 & 265/40 PSS's but both Beedub and Easty-5 advised against it with my wheel sizes / offsets, so I cancelled the order.

Apex themselves are advising 235/40 on the 8.5" ET38 and 275/35 on the 9.5" ET22 which are available for £452.00 a set as Vred Sessanta's or £498.00 a set as Eagle F1 AS2's.

Having cancelled one order, I'm looking for comment / advice, particularly on the 265/35 (or maybe 275/35) from anyone who has any relevant experience of them on a ///M Coupe or Roadster.

isn't sport cup 2 a semi slick?? or is this now a full on high performance road tyre?

Sorry, didn't realise that the offsets were limiting your choice, as I run 265/40/18 on the rear of mine without problem on standard wheels/suspension.

It's not as bad as the original Sport Cup and it's still road legal, but it's not what you'd call a 'full tread depth' tyre.

No experience with those exact tyre sizes, but have 235/35 and 265/30 on 19s. I'm on Goodyear Eagle F1 AS2, no issues at all

That's what I have on my 19" 313M's and, as you say, no issues.
