I ordered a couple of smd leds from china to try them out at the numberplate lights and after a couple of weeks I noticed them flickering and took them out to have a look and here is the result:

They began to melt and get black in color, the one even bended to a large extend. I bought a set of them from the UK some time ago for my low beam lights and I have no issues with them so I am getting a pair from there again for the numberplate lights. Chinese electronics suck when there is apparently no quality control. I doubt they had the required CE markings for import in the EU, i will never buy any electronics from Chineze sellers on ebay

Difficult to avoid sub-standard sh1te like this even from UK sellers as many import the cheap rubbish and sell it on from UK bases. I recently bought 2 new LED sides as my previous ones started flickering after a year or so. Decided to go gor UK only and nearer the top end of price range to try and get decent quality. So I paid about £15 for a pair that looked a bit less like bits of PCB glued together and stated error free. I could have paid nearer £3 for a couple of compatible LED bulbs. Anyway they arrived and I knew there was going to be problems as soon as I got one in my hand as it weighed less than air. Put first one in car and.....

fecking canbus error!!!!!!!!!! The bloody £5 ones I bought a year ago didn't even do that! So I tried to remove from bulb holder and the thing literally fell to bits in my fingers! Ubelieveable!

Really really poor quality. I replaced these with some allegedly Cree chip examples but they also gave errors even though they weren't supposed to. Eventually the third set I got worked with no errors. It is harder than you think to get good quality these days even when you are more than happy to pay the extra to get it.

The problem is that they sell them in plastic bags without any markings on the package so basically you have no idea on what you purchased. Both Uk and chineze bulbs came in a plastic bag. Luckily i had no issues from the ones from the Uk and they are on the car for the last 5 months. The most worrying thing for me is to catch fire. This is really unacceptable and more attention has to be paid on that matter.
