hi, my daughter is 7 and I recently bought a halfords booster seat, the kind with no back. it doesn't fit snuggly into the passenger seat because of sides of my leather seats which creates a space at the back of the booster of about 12cm and it also slips because of the leather. Any parents had any luck with finding a suitable booster??

You might want to consider doing away with the booster and go for a proper seat. I never understand why in this information age parents are keen to fit their children into these backless boosters as soon as possible. All research shows they are not the safer option. My six year old, 130cm son still fits into his stage 2/3 car seat and is likely to fit in if for at least two/three more years. The backless booster seats offer very little protection or support for their little frames.

"High backed boosters offer upper body protection for the neck, spine and head and help position the seat belt correctly across the child’s chests and hips. In a collision, especially a side impact, a booster cushion wouldn’t offer this protection and therefore it is recommended that a child uses this type of seat until they reach at least the minimum legal requirement of 135cm in height".
In Scandinavia the law dictates they are rear facing until 7 I think!
Any reputable shop will let you try out a few seats in your car, and if they won't, why would you want to buy something so important from them anyway.

I used to work at a well known baby shop - I specialised in car seats etc. and would agree with the above - we didn’t even sell backless ‘booster’ seats as they weren’t safe. I would recommend getting a decent stage 3 seat with a back - the ones that use the seatbelt to hold a pad in front of the child are really good.

I also agree with the above. My 7 year old son uses the full seat variety and that goes in my Zed a treat and fixes securely to the ISOFIX anchor points.
My car has the standard seats. I guess the more sculpted M-Sport seats might prove a little more tricky to fit a child seat due to the narrower more bucket like shape.

I thought it was no longer legal to get "booster" seats, and they had to be full seats now? Maybe this is only for a specific size/age range.
I have a full size seat in mine and my little 4.5yr old fits in snugly. I even put a seat protector in as the isofix bars were digging into the bottom bolsters
