Cherished number plates?

I have the opposite issue - mine was purchased with a private plate which I originally intended to quietly offload to blend in.

Now I feel it has become part of the car, unless someone wants to make an offer I can't refuse

... dating from the range 1 August 1993 – 31 July 1994.

When I had my E35 M5, I wanted an M5 plate for it, so I bought M5 BHW for £250 from the DVLA. Left it on the car when I sold it. Did a web search a while ago to see if the car was stil around, and came across a number of threads on various BMW forums where somebody was trying to sell it for something like £4k. I don't think that it sold :-)

I'd really like PKZ4 (my initials are PK), which is for sale at the moment, but it's over £3k and if I sold the Z4 it wouldn't really transfer to any other car.

So cut to the chase , what figure are you planning to land the plate for ?

some people on here dont like personal numbers and rubbish them and anyone who buys or shows interest in them, imo they are a harmless bit of fun, some are too flash, some are pointless and some are clever, subtle or funny, most are over priced but if you enjoy or have fun with them then what is the problem. I have three , I dont want or need my name or initials but like something related to the car or work. I am interested in plates and often browse lists to see what is around. the old 3x3 plates you are talking about are always saleable as they have no prefix or suffix, , add something to a vehicle as they hide the year, if they have good letters ie not xyz's or similar then these plates are usually between 700 to 1500 quid depending on the letters and numbers. pay what you can afford and enjoy, dont worry about other people's views. :D :thumbsup:
 
I had a secret yearning for one for many years, but could never really justify it. Then one day I realised that I never spent money on frivolous things like Rolex watches and jewellery so I went out and got a plate. Cost me about £500 as I recall.

I got X3 *** (my initials) and have had it on the last 3 or 4 cars I have owned. It adds a nice touch, and it's fairly plain. I don't like the contrived ones where people make characters by 'bending' letters.

I have idly thought of one day getting a BMW X3 to really show off the plate!
 
My dad and me have sequential plates with our surnames... So mine ends in 1 his is the same except his is 2.

He got them together 15+ years ago for £300 + fees.

I tried getting the same as mine but with 0 at the end for the wife... I found it for sale even... And the price... £1500!! I didnt bother!

I've a private plate on my 991S just my initials followed by a low number and I think it sets the car off better, got a year letter one C7 G** on my runabout
