Ched Evans

Whats the big deal with signing this guy in particular anyway?
Is he the best player on the planet or something?
Or is he pretty good and the club would get him for a song because nobody else will touch him?
Surely theres not a shortage of good footballers out there waiting to be signed who dont have history.
 
I think he is playing this all wrong, and it is going to cost him in the end.

The best thing to do is to sit and wait, serve the time on licence and let people "forget" a little. If the CCRC do refer the case back to the courts all the better for him, but his actions are currently making this too high profile and are increasing the risk that they will reject his case.

It's easy to say sit and wait, but a lot of the issues are how soon these events are taking place after he had been released, if he hadn't been released so early it would have been better, but in any case this whole episode is getting too public.

He should acknowledge the effects of the crime (which he has now done), encourage his supporters to become less vocal by removing the website and just calming down, and just wait it out a bit.

I imagine in two years time everyone would have moved on a bit and this would be much less high-profile.
 
this is such a tricky subject, but I believe its up to the courts to sentence people, not media or mobs

Exactly! We saw yesterday in France what happens when individuals think their version of right and wrong should be applied instead of the rule of law that applies to all.

I think you have hit the nail on the head mate, it seems the noisy minority can dictate to the silent majority , the attempted gagging of Charlie Hebdo by physcho religious control freaks , who want to impose religion which is effectively a fairy storey as their way as the only way or die , the attempt by North Korea to gag Sony because it did not agree with what we call a comedy Mickey take on their looney leader ,and the Ched Evans situation where a bloke who has served his time for a crime even it may be obnoxious is having his trade restricted by a minority of self righteous zealots I wonder how many of them have skeletons in their closets,The grip these very dangerous people have on us must resisted at all costs ,as the minute these control freaks taste blood believe me it won't stop there ,and our weak useless politically correct leaders who are more concerned with keeping the cosy status quo and their cushy carreers will wring their hands shake their heads and stick their heads in the sand and do absolutely nothing ,You all been warned ,!!!!! Rant over
 
The thing that doesn't quite add up at the moment is that the club claim that these threats have been made against the families of staff, but the police say they can't investigate because no complaints have been received - if someone made threats to my family/threatened to rape my daughter, I'd be on the phone to the police before telling my employers, wouldn't you?

I think in this case the threats came via the club naming members of their families. I highly suspect it's beeb aimed at the board and not just the admin staff but yes you would think I'll speak with the police as these people are no better than what they are supposedly campaigning against.

He doesn't but unfortunately as 'Social media' plays a huge part in people's lives nowadays and this has all gathered pace over it. People seem to think that it's their right to make someone else's life hell if they don't like them, don't agree with something they have said or done. I'm not sure how some of the higher profiled sportsmen would have got on a few years ago if it had been so easy to bring up their offences into a much wider audience.

Really he should have waited until the outcome of the referral process and then looked to maybe get back into he game. I suppose the issue is that he was only trying to train and keep his fitness up when it all kicked off.

Well said that man.

Give it a few yrs and the mob will have moved on to something else. Reporters i expect are paid bonus based on the viewing figures or papers sold etc so its in their interest to drag stuff like this out as much as they can by stirring the pot.

If he had been in the armed services and been convicted of rape, he'd be heading for a second custodial sentence right now and then dismissed the service without a job pension or prospects. He's been found guilty of rape and shows no remorse. Let him rot in the bottom pit of society until his last breath. Or until he excepts what he's done and makes an effort to try and put things right and move on. Not just expect to go back to living the life he had, before he raped someone.
 
lets not forget he hasn't finished his sentence just the custodial part. he is out on license and as such is still restricted in what he can do/go etc. so he is STILL being punished for his crime. An article i read has said he isn't out before he should be its inline with his sentence.

that being said rehabilitation isn't a simple case of going back to your old job. its about integrating back into society. it seems like society doesnt want him. there is no reason he cant go back other than the argument of its public profile but the flip side is that why should be go back?

personally i don't think its right he should be back in mainstream football. i think he burnt that bridge by his actions and the backlash against him is hardly surprising. 3 clubs now have dropped him due to the nature of his crime. the latest even had him for pretty much free as the [cheated on] girlfriends daddy has said he would pay his first yrs wages and cover costs of any lost revenue.

i think it is also a sad indictment of societys views toward women sex and fame. his case may/maynot be flawed it may/maynot have holes in the size of the channel tunnel. the jury found him guilty and review will answer that question. i think its pretty sleazy that he thought it acceptable to do what he did. if it were a case of the two of them got drunk together in a bar and then shagged then id say it was harsh but the simple fact was he went to another persons room and had sloppy seconds sex with an obviously drunk and not totally in control women and then slunk out of the fire escape. (lets just ignore the cheating on his other half for now). did he expect this to just be forgotten given he was a footballer? :headbang: he then showed no remorse for it, didnt distance himself from the threats etc to her from people, and then after not getting his way 3 times issued a weak and altogether too late half apology ....

go ched.. great role model.

busyg your also missing out the bit where he would have been taken out the back for a bit of "correctional education" :D

I think there is still an appeal pending , maybe he wont show remorse because he'wasnt guilty, just found guilty, what would you do ? if some one accused me of stealing , it went to court and i was found guilty but I had'nt done it, I would not show remorse. I hate injustice. there are only two people who know what really happened.Tricky one. Imagine how the guildford four must have felt, plucked off the street cause they were Irish, does'nt bear thinking about .
