Cheapie 3rd car advice

Well, you may shoot me down but after a weekend of looking at various cars, I think the best value for money is an X-type Jag :o

An '04 with 58k miles, 2.0d 50mpg is just £4.5k. Looks modern, ok it's a mondeo with a Jag badge but such a lot of car for the money. Not paid for it yet but hopefuly in the next 7 days.

I quite like the X-Type, but only the proper 2.5 V6 4WD sport model (not a front-wheel-drive Jag). Did you look at Audi A4?

Estate - practicale, diesel - higher mpg, quattro - best in snow.

Thought about suggesting a Mondeo, but I just couldn't bring such shame upon myself  .... I guess you've effectively done that yourself :P

Seriously, I'm sure it's an excellent car, especially as a cheapie third car. Good luck!

Well, went out to buy a Jag, ended up with a Mk 5 Golf, 2.0fsi gt...

Stunning condition, fsh etc, 54 reg, sunroof, 17" alloys, sky blue metallic & got it for £3850. Needs pads at the rear, other than that a bargain. Shall post a pic tomorrow after clay, polish, wax..!

Havent told the girlfriend yet, she's back home tomorrow - say a prayer for me...

Not very fuel economy then. What's the mileage? But it looks and drives better than Jag X-Type 2.0d.

Urgh not to piss on your bonfire but the early FSI engine is a complete NIGHTMARE>

i had a a4 2.0 FSI on a 53 plate, it used to cut out every time you put your foot down , EML light constantly on, its a very common thing with the high pressure fuel pump and the pressure regulators. theres no definitive fix for it- but heres hoping yours is ok.

Jamie.

1K miles in, so far so good - getting 40mpg, such a solid car for the money. Seems like it's been well looked after and no problems so far.
