Cheap ... or nasty?

Do BMW allow the roof to be dropped while driving on the Z4?
It's programmed not to, but I don't see why it can't be safely done below 30mph. Porsche programmed theirs this way after around 2001 I think.

yeah, definitely jealous of that on boxsters - one in the work car park. I do mine by holding the button when moving slowly if the lights go green, but do my best to avoid it because of the button needing to be held.

30 mph is quite a speed to be putting a sail up. It would be all right if the roof has been engineered for this but I only move slowly when my roof is moving up or down.

Is your roof always moving then? :poke:

I'm not going to bite..........

yer the question came from knowing a mate had this fitted to his boxster 6 months before buying a new boxster s anyway, but it does seem awesome.
30mph might be a little excessive but if you could do it while sub 20mph with one touch operation, even that would be handy.

yer can imagine poking around for the heated seat button and accidentally reaching across to far while 70+ on the mway :O

Hi guys.

Thanks for all the interest in the OTH.

Just to let you know, I've been a genuine Z4 owner for about 6 months now and I absolutely love it, and for what it's worth I've got an OTH fitted to my Z4 and it works without fail every time. I even managed to get my top off on Saturday and Sunday this weekend and had a real buzz from the car (some would call it showing off but I don't care, it's such a rush).

Thanks to peddy for pointing out that a few members have mentioned a group buy for this, would that interest anyone, I'm open to suggestions ;-)

Iv'e got a few other ideas for the Z4 that I intend to release over time so I'm hoping to be here for the long term and if anyone has any issues with anything I do, I'll do my level best to help them.

Cheers.

You must be stationary (or close to) before you can press the button and get the hood moving, but once the hood is moving you can than pull away.
I assume that if you continue to accelerate then at some speed the hood will stop moving either due to wind resistance :o or a safety interlock but I've never gone fast enough to test this, I always keep it below 5-10 MPH and it works fine.

Thanks.

this does sound good, as others have said, providing the numbers are right?.

gaptech, have you got a remote version of this oth? do you offer an install service
