Cheap OBD2 Reader

Can anyone recommend a cheap no thrills OBD2 reader that actually works? Nothing fancy, just need it to read codes and preferably one from Amazon so it arrives tomorrow. Thanks

Some options here https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=131327&p=1866731&hilit=Code+reader#p1866731

I have one of these:

Don't expect bells or whistles, but you can do some basic code reading and clearing. If you want cheap, basic, simple and next day delivery it's spot on

Disclaimer: I haven't had any reason to use it on a BMW yet.

The ones that cost a little more will reset Airbag and ABS codes. The cheaper one probably won't.

Cheers both  Gone for the one Tiglon linked, little bit cheaper than the ones mentioned in that thread Smartbear

Let me know how you get on, I bought a cheap one from GSF which worked on the VW but not the BMW so be interesting to know if this works to buy one

Correct, the one I linked does not read and reset airbag codes - not sure about ABS.

CryptoWhale, if you want to hold off on ordering I can double check that mine works on the Z4 in the morning before you commit?

EDIT: apologies, only just noticed this in E85 forum....

If you haven't seen it already this thread may be worth a look before you place an order.

I and many others on here have the BMW specific Creator C110 Scanner. Basic, no frills code reader that works  https://www.wish.com/product/5dcbaa0a59e27000f0181327?hide_login_modal=true&from_ad=goog_shopping&_display_country_code=GB&_force_currency_code=GBP&pid=googleadwords_int&c=%7BcampaignId%7D&ad_cid=5dcbaa0a59e27000f0181327&ad_cc=GB&ad_curr=GBP&ad_price=30.00&campaign_id=12686188707&retargeting=true&exclude_install=true&gclid=CjwKCAjw7--KBhAMEiwAxfpkWNDMSHMOH3kAPtgw_JXflXB0Cl2arxBhKvXMBQH35ayblcyNVPFK8BoCkRQQAvD_BwE&share=web

I have a Creator 310+ and very happy with its capabilities, sorted an airbag light I had that INPA and BMW Scanner 1.4 couldn't clear, bonus is its standalone and portable so handy to keep in the car and saves having to get the laptop out.

Just curious, has anyone else successfully updated their C110 or similar unit?

I went to the Shenzehn website (http://www.szcreator.com/page105), downloaded the software, and the relevant BIN file, and followed the instructions, but it refuses to do the update.

I don't have any issues with the C110, "it does what I need it to do, but when I see an update I always want to do it!"

Updated my Creator 310+ the other day it was shipped with Version 11.9 and the update put Version 12 on it, some changes noted to the menu screen with the addittion of a Battery Icon for coding new battery to some of the BMW range that require this. I have found that the menu item to reset Transport Mode is on the scanner but is not functional, still under development by all accounts, maybe future updates will bring that to life. I can confirm that the laptop based BMW Scanner 1.4 with PASoft system will delete Transport Mode, did it the other day for a forum member.
