Cheap Lambda Probes?

Just spent a few minutes on Google price checking for a Lambda Sensor for the Z4M

The BMW part number is 11787540167 & prices out anything up to £170 ( My dealer quoted £155 with discount)

The Bosch part number for this is 0258017018 & it looks like it fits quite a few other cars

A search for the Bosch part has turned up at a VW site selling them for just £90 :)

http://www.vauxhallworldparts.com/vauxhall.php?partnumber=0258017018

Anyone see any problem here? It’s got to be the same part surely?

How did you determine they're the same part? Often for most parts there is the branded BMW one and the unbranded one (made by the exact same manufacturer) and the BMW one is miles more expensive purely down to the BMW badge and part number. I read about the E6x M5 clutch for instance costing around £1k from BMW or circa £500 unbranded. If you're sure they're the same part then crack on!

Now I'm confused after looking at the Bosch parts for the E85 :?

Some sites say BMW part number 11787540167 converts to Bosch part number 0258017018 but the Bosch site say these are 830mm in length.

The parts shown here say they are 950 mm in length http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=DU92&mospid=49422&btnr=18_0661&hg=18&fg=10&hl=1

The Bosch site says BMW part 11787540167 converts to Bosch part number 0258017092 that is 950mm in length.

But you try & find a Bosch 0 258 017 092 :headbang:

Must be a third-ary one then

Probably tempting fate, but I haven’t got round to changing the o2 sensor yet (I had the fault light every other day). Now, I did remove it about 600 miles back & gave it a squirt of cleaner, a wipe & a blow out with an air line, that at first made no difference, but now for about 2 –3 weeks / 400 miles I have not had the fault show! I wonder if this has done the job? It was at about 15,500 miles when it first showed the fault & I’m on about 17,000 now. I wonder if it’s just not working & if so, could that be a bad thing? :?

Any update on this one, same problem as I am having at the moment.

I found this, which says it covers 11787540167
