Cheap alternative to Porter Cable?

The Kestral one linked to doesn't seem to be a rotary, it says dual action. At £90 it is more tempting, my car needs some tlc for the paintwork, the cash saved could be used to buy the extra products needed.

Just need to work out what to buy....

Your not wrong, which is why i posted it up as an example against the Megs and Black n decker orange monster originally posted. Being able to change the speed is a must.

Ive heard nothing but good thing about the Kestral but that a feed back from maybe 5 people as against 100's with the G220....

My experience with tools is that most are made in China. I am not sure about PC, but many many other tools are made in the same plant with just minor changes in the cosmetics. I have a friend who is an importer and he claims that you should look at the specifications and features as opposed to brands as today, brands make little difference, the motors, switches etc are about the same. If I could, I would buy any product NOT made in China if I wanted to keep the device. If I want just to use it and toss it away soon, I would just get a device with similar specifications and forget it. :)

The orange one says: Variable speed, between 4,000 and 12,000 rpm

So you can change the speed... not sure how slow or how fast you need, but you cartainly can change the speed.
