Just spotted.

Well quite a few now i looked again all 6k, what's going on, surely not that unpopular.

I think it’s a power thing. All the people selling want more power now so perhaps are up grading but in all honesty the 23i is a peach of an engine. I had one for a short time and I loved it and that’s while I had the Z4M. Loads around so prices are falling. Just my opinion of course

Market has fragmented into those hanging on to post Covid 19 impacted prices and those who need to sell..as previously discussed 35i/35is are now at least 6k or 7k off their high water mark.. I guess there will always be a few that inadvertently pay a price premium for no great reason..

That car is post 100k miles with not a lot of goodies.although punters at that end of town maybe not interested in aging options..

With interest rates hitting 5% today, expect to see a lot more 'cheaper' cars for sale privately IMO. Used car prices have been artificially inflated for at least two years. Something has to give at some point. Maybe now is the time? :?

Must say I like the wheels on the one posted. They look expensive!

The adaptive suspension is leaking and the roof has the tell tale signs of paint oxidisation in the corners - obviously out of the 12 year anti-corrostion warranty now

Is it adaptive? or just normal shockers that need replacing- if just dampers could be a good buy at that price.

Or possibly selling for better economy + cheaper ved ? with even the 23i costing £365 yr  anyone with rocketing outgoings will not have to look far to save a few ££ a month .
23i a great car though , had one for a while , they do need to be pushed through all the gears to get momentum but they do pick up .
Going forward as pointed out above from here on brace yourself for some carnage with used prices of some cars .
My own thoughts for a E89 if buying now would be a manual 12-14plate 2.0i Msport 70k-90k circa £8000/£9k , already out there & likely to get cheaper

Here's a thought, maybe it's getting around that the roof can have problems and thus they are not selling!
Loads of posts, on the forums and Facebook groups etc, of owners having roof issues, and the older they are getting it seems to becoming more and more of a problem!
On most, and especially older ones, if its not happened already then it probably will soon. And the ones that have already had it then you've got to ask how has it been rectified? Was it a bodge or a proper fix, and when will another part go wrong?

Just a thought :driving:

Roof is blown up out of all proportion IMHO.

10 to 12 year old car. It's going to have gremlins & various parts that are at end of life (or past it).

As they get older people run them on the cheap - problems accelerate. I see it all the time on the forums (here & elsewhere) with people trying to repair something with gaffer tape & superglue instead of replacing with a new part.

Bodge it & live with it cheap / bodge it so it holds together & sell it - someone else's problem.

Then a new owner gets the bad news when they pick it up down the line.

At least the roof issues are pretty cheap to fix in the scheme of things.

As far as convertibles go, I don't see this is any worse than a hundred others of this age - you likely see more comments out there regards Z4s as there are more of them on the road.

Think yourself lucky you don't have a ferrari with a very very similar folding roof mechanism. Thats a £2k -£5k fix for essentially the same reasons & the same parts to be fettled.

Got to smile about how "cheap" these cars are becoming.

£6,000 is a lot of money for a 14 year old car with over 100k on it. Or it was until the last two years! :)

As the cost to repair becomes a greater proportion of cost of purchase its going to hurt the perception of value and desirability.

The counter argument is how many people do any real research before buying a 'toy' which these are?

I guess age, condition, location, mileage, options, colour, presentation and the sheer number on the market will mean that prices will vary widely now?

THere are a lot of convertible options as well...

A 'bottom feeder' for sure can score a great bargain, on the other hand a lot of people buy on emotion, so those punters selling at a higher price with a good catchment area may still get a sale..

Maybe, but I doubt most people buying these cars or any other cars go scouring forums. I think in the grand scheme of things we forum users are in the minority of owners.

I think you've istockphoto-96319218-612x612.jpg

People thinking of buying a specific car don't always go to the groups and forums of that specific one, they go all over the net and get the bad reports without the proper advice or solutions and then form an opinion.

Whereas they should come on a forum like this, get 350 different opinions, to confuse the hell out of them! :poke:

We are all devaluing the cars by constantly talking about the problems.
People like to moan about faults even if fixed.
Not many posts about "How i had a lovely day in my car, what a wonderful purchase, i'll have 2 more"

Yes it has adaptive suspension and when I asked the seller to comment on the suspension there was no mention of the leak - I then saw a post from the seller on one of the Z4 Facebook groups asking for advice on replacing the leaking rear struts.

Yes - I'd agreed to buy it a few months ago but the seller changed his mind then offered it me again last week before it went on ebay. I suspect the leaking rear struts were key to the decision to sell.
