Cheap 17/18" Wheels with legal tyres

Hi, I'm looking for a very cheap set of 17" or 18" wheels - anybody have a spare set taking up room in their garage that they want to sell? Not too fussed about style or condition, as long as they have no cracks/buckles and have legal tyres.

I'm in Shoreham-by-Sea (near Brighton) - if you are local and able to drop off, or send via courier that would be great as I don't think you can fit a set of wheels in an E85 roadster!

I have a set of 18" MV2 replicas with tyres that are borderline legal that I no longer need, but I wouldn't want to go far on the tyres. They'd be OK to sit the car on if your were getting wheels refurbed though.

As they are reps they are a square set 8J x 18 ET40 with 225/40 tyres. Wheels are OK but ideally ready for a refurb.

I'm in Sandhurst, Berkshire but could drop them off if you were interested and the price was right!

Thanks Mr Tidy. When you say borderline legal, is that due to the tyre age or tread depth? And what sort of price did you have in mind?

I've seen a couple of cheap tatty sets from breakers on eBay under £150 delivered which was the sort of ballpark I was looking at. The wheels are actually for my E46 which I'm about to sell but I'm keeping the ones currently fitted. The car needs quite a bit of work doing to it, so no point spending a lot when I'm probably not going to get much for the car anyway!

I haven't looked at the dates, but tread is very borderline so I wouldn't want to drive on them unless it was just a few miles in an emergency!

Personally I wouldn't put them on a car I was selling so they may not be what you are looking for. Shame you aren't a bit nearer or you could have had a look at them.

2 tyres are Roadstone, other 2 are Nexen. I can check tread depths tomorrow when it's daylight!

Anyway here are some photos.

Thanks, to be honest I'll be listing the car as for spares/repair (MOT expired) so I may still be interested depending on the tread depths - I'll await your update tomorrow.

Oh right, I'll check tomorrow.

But do they actually need to be legal for Spares or Repair?

Hi I have x4 MV2 wheels from E46, they're a straight set, eg not staggered. 225 40 18. They're black and DO want refurbishing but they're fine if you're not worried on cosmetics without inspecting up close. Can send some pics.

Tyres.. one is nearly new budget the other 3 are legal but from memory two have slow punctures but have been holding air for past number of weeks and are still well inflated, eg you would not really notice.

May fit your bill?

And best of I'm in Worthing. Available immediately. Looking for 200 really but happy to do a deal. Or can deliver for the full asking.

Message me or reply with email or mobile and I can send you details. This said .. try this link https://photos.app.goo.gl/56dFCiwPeJ9gD4Vq5

WSXZ4 - Thanks for replying but not quite what I'm looking for with the slow punctures, plus they are a bit more than I was hoping to spend.

Mr Tidy - Did you manage to check the tread depths and have a price in mind? I guess they probably don't have to be legal if I'm selling for spares/repair but personally I would rather they are as the car still drives and runs.

Sorry, I got caught up yesterday helping someone out with Storm Eunice issues!

They all have 3/4mm of tread but I got the brands wrong! Two are Bridgestone Potenza, one is Nexen and the other is a Roadstone but they are all non-runflats.

Given that I'm not that near to you would £130 delivered work?

No worries hope the storm didn't cause too much trouble!

Assuming you mean the treads are between 3 and 4mm (not three quarters of a mm!) and the wheels have no cracks/buckles then yep I'm happy with £130. Please send me a PM and we can discuss arrangements. Thanks!
