Charcoal canister removal

Hello

Can you remove the charcoal canister from your car with no problems? If so, what is the proper way of doing it?
I'm getting a quad exhaust done and it is in the way.

It won't throw any warning lights if that's what you mean.

I removed mine (E86 3.0si) by venting the tank at the wheelarch (there *is* a smell of fuel vapour) and plugging the fuel vapour return pipe under the car, before it becomes a metal pipe in the engine bay.

Just a word of caution. I once lost a Toyota MR2 because of a faulty charcoal canister. It was not removed but was not doing its job and It often had fumes on a hot day or after filling up. One day after filling the tank the hot exhaust set off petrol vapours and the whole car burned out. They are there to stop vapours escaping from the tank, so remove at your peril. :) .

There was a silver lining though, car cost £600.00, insurance paid out £1500.00.
