Changing tyres

Hi, I am new to the forum, I have had my z for 6months now ;) and I love it. 3.0 roadster.

Now my question is,

I have mv2 alloys and I took it to kwik fit to have a rear tyre fitted, and guess what I now have a big grove round the edge of the rim :/
They seemed to struggle getting tyre on off, I understand rft tyres will be difficult but they shouldn't be that hard to do right.
I remember when I had some merc wheels the tyre needed taking off from the back of the rim. Can anybody advise on this ??

And anybody recomend anywhere to change tyres in merseyside Cheshire Warrington area

Chris

Rft are a nightmare to get off saw the garage who fitted my winters to my 108's struggle.

But if your wheels are in good condition and they damaged them surely they should rectify it?

I've always had good service from frodsham tyres when I lived that way. And hippodrome in Liverpool altho im not sure on them for the BMW wheels tho as they are a big rough and ready. (Great for a part worn if you needed a stop gap)

No excuse, make then repair it. RFT's have been around for years now so they should know what they are doing.

This does show you why I would never use quick fit though.

 agree there.
My DD is a leased company car I can only go to quick fit for this car .
Twice this year they've fitted a tyre the wrong way round. Also after 3 attempts to balance the front wheels I went to another branch who said they'd been trying to balance them static which is for motorcycle instead of dynamic for cars.

Complete Plonkers Rodney

Ok I know Fordsham tyres I am that way tomorrow will pop in. I am originally from round there.

Thanks for the replies, just I am still wondering whether the tyre should be taken off from the back of the wheel. As my amg wheels did.

Chris.

their main brand is khumo and i got a decent price from them for the ecsta le sport ones but im not hugely convinced by them as they dont have that pronounced lip that the falkens did and im sure (but cant be positive) ive gained a few dinks since. Having said that i drive mostly in Liverpool and the roads are that bad 4x4 tires probably wouldn't be any safer.

they will get you anything you want and their service is quick and easy but not refined.
