Changing to new style key

Hi all,

Might be a really stupid question, but is it possible to change the key?

Since buying the car I have always felt that the key just wasnt right, and looked dated vs. the rest of the car. The likes of Audi, VW etc all had posh flip keys, but it seems in BMW stuck with boring old standard keys for the Zed.

Been looking around e-bay and there are lots of new style keys available. I'm assuming it would be a case of having a new blade cut, and re-programming?

Has anyone tried, or does anyone have any knowlegde whether its even possible?
 
To be fairly blunt - no. The 'new style' key is not really a key - it is an electronic fob that you insert into the dash with a hidden blade in it.
 
I prefer the old style proper key - actually feels like you're starting the car. Hate the new one in my 3 series.
