Changing the headlight bulbs

The nearside bulb went the other week on my MC so decided to change over the bulbs myself today (of course having to do both sides). Not the normal easy job to do, but it's a wheels off job and all the palaver that goes with that. The light casing is the most difficult part of job to get back into place. I guess this would have cost £100+ for an hours labour at a garage to do this...

Amazing to think in such a large engine bay they couldn't work out a more convenient solution for this :?

:D some guys on here can do it with wheels on  i find i need wheel off , head right in with torch & its still a proper f7ok about job :D
As you say its almost like they design these things to be as difficult as possible , the E89 access is from the top of the unit via a circular hatch , much much easier

haha...there's no way to do them with lowered springs and with the wheel fully turned on the M....maybe if you had the hand of Jeremy Beadle...even then that's tight.

Changing the bulbs is far from ideal on the Z4. Be careful with the back covers. The foam seal can perish or conform to the exact position it was fitted at. It is quite common to have condensation build up in the headlight afterwards. The seal is not sold seperately so quite a few DYI a replacement or change the back covers alltogether.

A good smear of silicone grease on the seal of the back cover should stop any condensation.
