Wanting to change the speakers tonight - as it does not look too difficult..

Can someone tell me if i can pop out the 6.5" speakers and drop new ones in...? or do i need to make MDF spacers?

This is for the footwell speaker

Thanks

Depends on the speaker you install but I would say in most cases yes you will.

As a minimum you'll need to drill new mounting holes or you could adapt the stock speaker mount which I've seen others do, but this would mean you couldn't return to stock when you sell unless you buy a donor set to chop up.

took few mins to remove the passenger side cover & speaker..

mounting holes are indeed different.

Do not want to destroy the car, as one day i will get it back to stock.

Wonder if any adapters are available? if not will have to go buy the MDF and give it a go..

was hoping they would have just popped in - but that would have been real easy! lol

I couldn't find any when I was looking. I saw on Neil p's thread he made some up.

Let us know how you get on as speakers are still on my todo list

Passenger side - use the speaker to mark out the same size shape in mdf. Then you can mount that to your car and the speaker to it.
Drivers side - bit different, cut the mdf accurately to size to sit inside the OEM plastic mount - NeilP has good pics on his build thread

Done..took about 30mins a side..the passenger side I found was eiser to do.

Pics up loaded on my Audio Install Thread...
