Changing spec on new order

I ordered my new Z4 on April 3rd is it to late to change the spec? I want to add memory seats, so me and my wife dont have to fiddle with the seats all the time!

It's probably ok to alter the order. Call the dealer.

Electric seats are an expensive option at nearly a grand!

If its a 2 month delivery I think they normally start production a month before delivery so probably not too late.

I would happily have paid a grand for electric memory seats, manual adjustment is hopeless :(

It depends on whether you have a "delivery" date from your Dealer and when it is
Call them first thing

Get in touch with your dealer first thing and talk to them.

There is a point at which the build spec is locked and you won't be able to change it. This can be within a day or two of the order or several weeks from order depending on when it is due to be built.

I ain't got memory seats and haven't missed them!

Sounds like a 'nice to have' but not essential IMO. Idrive, on the other hand, is a must.

You can change it up to about 2 weeks before it goes onto the production line from my experience - did your dealer give you a build week? Just give them a call in the morning.

If it's truly a deal-breaker they can make changes any time up to actually putting your chassis on the production line, but it will cause your production date to slip and they will re-schedule it.

I had memory seats on the last car - Yes they are good but I haven't got them on this car and NO, I don't miss them! :D

I don't think the memory seats are needed that much unless you have two drivers using the car all the time. As only I drive mine, the only the time the seat controls are used are when cleaning the car.

Nicest thing about electric seats is that the adjustment is smooth and stepless so getting the position just right is easier

Spot on, or BMW could have adopted an Audi/VW style ratchet instead having to shuffle and jump off your seat to adjust seat height, it's rubbish  my Z3 has electric seats back and forth and up and down and is much better.

How often do you move your seats?
Set it and forget it!

It's final!
White 20i Msport 8 speed auto, pdc front and rear, heated seats, memory seats, heated steering wheel (for my farmer hands). Bring on June!

Thanks for all the advice

You'll have to let us know how often you use the memory seats!
Enjoy the car when it arrives in the sunny days ahead.

To make the most of the electric seats... have both keys handy. put one in the car then set the seat memory to as you like it, then put the 2nd key in and set the seat all the way forward... give that key to your other half and watch her face as they unlock the car ;)
