changing kitchen tap - how does this pipe coupler come apart?

changing the tap in the kitchen, how an earth does this come loose so I can remove the pipes in it.

Push the flange (with 15mm written on it till) it is hard up against the main body and it should come apart with a twist/tug.
 
Those types you have to unscrew the barrels first (the bevelled bits). They lock the collar in place so they don't come apart.
they are john guest speed fit.
 
 
Once you've unscrewed them the collar should have more play in it to push down whilst you pull/twist the pipe out.
 
they were knackered.

cut them off and bought some new ones.. all done.

just waiting to see if there is any dripping coming from them

i would never use solder joints now, push fit is great but it's important that the inserts are used
 
I fitted speedfit to my whole house when I installed the central heating 15 years ago and not had a problem.
Although you need copper for 1m at the boiler.
