Changing Front Spring Coils

Its not a hard job at all, the hardest bit for you will be removing the drop link for the anti roll bar as its a ball joint. I used a impact gun to remove mine but can image it being hard work without one.

if you don't have a impact gun buy some new drop links and replace them. if you replace them it means you can brake the old ones to get them off easier

I *think* you can get away with just unbolting the drop link from the strut. Shall try to find the instructions I used (from the forum somewhere).

That's a great link. I need to do mine but just don't know if it's worth the hassle vs cost of DIY.

The springs are £170-200 ish and alignment £100 so £270 total if you are fitting them yourself.

Or AMD/M style will supply/fit and align them for £365 all in...
 
Why is alignment 100? I found it with around 50 pounds at kwick fit ??? and they have hunter alignment.

And you need to change the struts -- 50 pounds more :)

They may have hunter alignment, but that doesnt mean they have people qualified to use it. That may be a generalisation but there are plenty of threads on here and elsewhere about the incapabilities of kwik fit.

well i think it is recommended because of that bearing on the struts. .. you dont have to do it but i think it is the best since the strut cant be damaged especially at 80k miles.
 
Kwikfit are absolutely terrible. I have had to use them 3 times so far due to emergency issues and everytime they have simply added to the stress of a bad situation. They even tried to tell me i needed new discs on my civic type r immediately although i had replaced them with mtec discs just 3 weeks before.
