Never happen's mate ,
I made the 520d mistake a few years back , 07 sport spec tourer LCI , pretty lame performance & matching economy , couldn't burst 43mpg on a 500 miles euro jaunt , most of the time it sat around 29 /33mpg :x same as our 330d only there is life inside that :oops:
 
My 530d NEVER averaged over 31mpg.

I got as low as 25mpg average...BEST of 38 driving like I had a speed camera on every corner!

Civic Type Rs seem to manage being thrashed MUCH more and survive well...I have spent too long in diesel cars for revving this highly to seem normal!!

Great fun though :D

I made the 520d mistake too :oops: economy wasn't an issue for me tbf & I thought it was pretty frugal but i did own a X5 4.8iS before it! but the performance is nothing short of hopeless & overall the worst car I have purchased. :headbang:

My M3 seems to enjoy bouncing off the 8400rpm limiter :driving: I am hoping it stands the test of time all being well. When all said & done that's what they are built to do provided you warm them up before opening the taps & stick to the service schedule.
 
The 330d we had is still such a complete allrounder in our eyes & is fondly remembered, put over 150k miles on it from 3 months old & it never missed a beat & as others have said its one hell of an engine I can't speak highly enough of it. :)

Maniac is right BMW claim the same MPG for both the 20i and 28i but just for the record mine's a manual 20i
 
Bang off the lights i doubt our 330d would match the 3.0Si but mid range torque & pulling away from 30 / 60 then i would say the oil burner would win out :? especially so after its remap booked for the 11th May :oops: :thumbsup: :driving:
 
Good job, i was getting worried looking into 3.0 Zs. thought i might as well look at some 330 diesel cabs if there just as quick with better MPG lol

Have you not tried one yet ?
265bhp in the later 3.0Si is more than plenty to make them move & if you want to really push them then you have to make use of all the rev range before changing :cry:
Or slip it into sport mode & gas it hard :evil: they really do hit the horizon pretty quick :driving:
 
Nope not yet. Brother in law had an early 3.0 with the lower bhp. If anyone fancies taking me out in either 3.0 roadster or coupe auto or manual your more then welcome and would be appreciated. When you say hold onto the revs hopefully not like a type r. I got bored of that!!
