Changing forum..

Cheers guys... I think what this place needs is the watchful eye of F-n-I to sort these idiots out :D

I agree Rick, there is a darker tone popping up from time to time and I think we will have to adjust our tolerance level to cope with this. The mods and I let a lot of things go in the early days, as things tended to sort themselves out, but as the forum gets bigger we will have to adjust things to make sure it's still a nice environment for all.

What I will say though is we are getting an awful lot of good quality members joining too, and the new members per day is on the increase, it's just unfortunate that the "chaff" get most of the publicity.

I guess the honeymoon period is over, but as always i am keen to improve things so if you have any ideas of how we could do things better it's always appreciated. I was proud of the fact that until this week we had not had to ban anyone... I have never heard of a forum that managed that.

(also, the person who was banned was warned, so they had a chance) :driving:

Where are these flaming posts of which people are speaking?

Moderation seems perfect in my view... I've been around only a little while so have mainly been exposed to what may be being discussed (unless it is me and I can't see it :) ) and I think the forum is great.

I think as forums grow they need to diversify a little too. Ie, there seem to be alot of threads for "modding" now, beyond OEM type things like adding ProNav etc, so a modding section may well be useful?

I've moderated at a few forums, and worked through a few that have grown fairly quickly and change is always key, to give people their space, but not space them out so much the momentum stops.

I just wanted to say generally it's a fantastic resouce, and great community, so whatever keeps it going is fine by me. I'll donate soon because I have had my monies worth so far, and I would also like to write some FAQ's to help out too :)

Thanks

Dave

I was thinking that for those banned, you could have under their avatar the words "sofa king banned" instead of "member." It puts a nice ring to it, and I've seen it done at other forums.

Not at all, sorry if it came across like that. All I meant is that in the lower age bracket there are more immature individuals. I know it sounds like a generalization (and in fact it is), but ask any insurance company and they will tell you the same.

That's not to say all of the younger age group are like that, and you are most welcome on the forum
