Changing drivers and passenger seats round?

Anyone know if this is possible. 26k now covered at 5 years so beginning to see a difference between the two seats as the passenger one has probably seen use for less than 1k.

Any idea if you can take them out and swop the seat part over onto the respective base and refit to share the wear?

Drivers seats used to be better made in fords and vauxhalls of old due to reps crunching 100's of thousands of miles from the drivers seat. Not sure this still applies or ever did to BMW.

The Z4MC seats are the worst I've ever experienced in a BMW. Both my M5's had 150,000+ miles on them with seats that required less maintenance than the Z4MC does.

I guess it's partly down to the water-based paints they're using on top of the leather - rather than the leather being being dyed itself, partly down to the thinner leather being used (thinner = cheaper), and general cost-cutting mentality.

The seats are also made by LEAR, not by Recaro, so there's probably another cost-saving measure.

Can't say I think the seats in mine are that bad, and it has to be one of the highest mileage Ms out there.

my m sport seats have a suede edge on the inside so they cant be swapped over- not sure on the actual m tho.

VERY good point! I would imagine they are the same on the M.
