Changing battery with the stock radio

Hello all!

My 2005 E85 needs a new battery. I'm in my (early) 60s and I've replaced my share of batteries over the years, but I have a question about this car. I've been reading threads and I know the E85 shouldn't need a computer reset or retraining. The windows might need adjustment. But I cannot find a clear answer on the radio. The E85 has the stock BMW "Business" AM/FM/CD radio without Bluetooth. Does it need a reset code if the battery is disconnected? I cannot find a code card in the owner's manual or any other paperwork. I really don't want to pay the dealer$hip for something this simple.

Does this radio need a reset code? Should I be paranoid and attach a trickle charger to the jump start connectors in the engine bay?

This is correct - no code needed.

For what it's worth - rather than using a code - the BMW radios of this generation listen for messages on the 'k-bus' network within the car. If they get a signal/message from that network, then it'll enable/work. If it doesn't get that message (such as testing on a bench, or in a non-BMW), it'll show 'disabled' on the display.

I don't really see the point of this, as you can still steal from one BMW and put into another, and they've got dashboard-specific face plates, so not like anyone's going to be stealing them to put into their Astra or something...

As others have said the radio will be fine - mine was when I swapped the battery a few years ago.

Anyway welcome to the forum.
