Good news heated seats are great  however now I have a code on Cary that won’t clear 000020 with airbag light on the dash , I disconnected the battery and left for half an hour before disconnecting seats and the replaced them . Can I just go to local garage when they open to have this reset , doesn’t work clearing with Carly .
Any help would be appreciated , thank you -

The creator c110 reader worked for me when carly didn't. But yeah a garage shouldn't have a problem sorting it out.

Don’t fancy paying more for another reader , I’ll go to local garage or if anyone near me in chesterfield got the above reader I could use in exchange for beer tokens

Don’t know about that specific Carly error code (someone certainly can help with that), but different passenger seat occupancy sensors in pre- and post-facelift seats are a commonly cause the airbag light.

Think you may be correct as the passenger seat had and extra connector is there a way around this ,i have an 04 car so pre sensor wiring is there something i can fit

With post-facelift seats in a pre-facelift zed there are, to my knowledge, two options. First, changing the occupancy sensor mat in the passenger seat to a pre-facelift one (and use the sensor mat module from your old seat), or second, sourcing a specific module that bypasses the sensor mat and fools the electronics to think the seat is occupied. There are several old threads with more specific information.

I’ve checked the donor car was a 54 plate and mine is a 04 both pre face lift . Both sets of seats look the same and the guides for the seat belts are the same . My old seats were powered but not heated and the new seats are both powered and heated . I’ve think there was an extra two pin plug on the passenger seat , does this to be plugged in ? Or is it just coding .

Prefacelift to prefacelift should be a straight swap and not need any coding, They have only one yellow & black connector block so having a loose two pin plug is not normal. Seat belt tensioner connector, occupancy mat wiring, could be anything. Can you physically follow the wiring? Or compare side by side with your old seat?

Thank you DMike I’ll check them in the morning I’ll lift the seat and have another look , could be as you say and this has come out of the yellow and black connector . Thanks for your insight . Cheers lee

Thanks rockhopper , I am going to check the connectors tomorrow but if it don’t work I may take you up on your kind offer cheers lee

Generally airbag lights don’t go out when you clear the fault (unlike ECU errors), they need to be reset. Give me a shout.

All sorted now , there was an extra cable under the passenger seat , traced it back to the seat belt tensioner , so I replaced the whole seat belt assembly from old seat to new and put all the cables in one plug under the seat .
This now all worked and a very kind rockhopper cleared my light on the dash for me , it’s great to have people willing to help other z4 owners , so if anyone needs Carly to change anything on there car you can always pop in here .
Thought I would just update the forum to help any other member who has a seat light fault .
