Change seats over

I recently bought some non powered heated M sport seat from a 2008 Z4 for my 2003 car, My car has powered bases and heated se seats. I would like to keep this option.
Can I fit the sports seat to a powered SE non sports base ?

I'm sure I read that this is possible but can't find it
 
I have not done it myself,but I know it has been done quite a few times.I personally would fit the non electric ones for the weight saving.
When I fitted m seats in mine I used one of these and transferd the little box over from my original passenger seat

Don't you get more adjustment with the electric base ? I know the weight saving is quite something with these seats but I don't race around..much
What does the little box do, will I need that then ?
 
The electric seats are only a couple of kg heavier (per side). Three motors at about 0.5kg each plus a small amount of additional hardware.
 
The little black box is part of the seat occupancy system .The later seats have a different set up.Some have connected the later seats as they are and say say they have had no problems with the air bag light.You could try this but you may end up with air bag light on.

How do you remove the first aid box, I can see there's a torx screw up under the seat but can't get to it. Does the box unclip or something 1st.
Just can't see how it comes off.
Anyone done this ?

Cheers Paul, just got it off and it's so obvious once you've done it :roll:

Now just trying to work out how to take them apart now, the cj10jeeper thread just tells you what you need to do, not how to. There doesn't seem to be anything about the actual strip down.
 
These cars have very little storage space in the cabin, so I've fitted a 2nd first aid box under the driver's seat.

If you do want to do that it would be so much easier to fit the bracket to the seat base with the seat out! :thumbsup:

Well I have removed my SE seats and have changed the passenger M sport onto my power bases. Thanks to MrPT who found a very helpful link and to cj10jeeper who PM'd me advice. I can strip these quite quickly and for now, all the wire blocks seem to fit into the correct sockets. I will let you know if it all works once I have them fitted.
While they were apart, I gave them a good clean and got into all the nooks and crannies.
I will get some photos up soon

Cheers Paul, when I ran the reg no through the DVLA, it showed that it had done around 48000 before going off the road. The drivers side has a small amount of wear on the bolster but the foam feels really good. I want to get some dye to re colour it.

I have changed my seats over now and all the electrics are working. I started the car and had no airbag light on, then after a few minutes, the light came on.
Question is
Do I need the back box off ebay.
Is it plug and play, do I need to remove the box from under the old passenger seat and fit it with the black box ??
 
When I fitted my seats I transferd the little black box from the pre facelift passenger seat and fitted the part from eBay.It was plug and play.You will need to reset your airbag light first.

Is this the part I need from my old passenger seat, do I need the cable with the blue/black plug ?

It's quite a few years since I did mine..The black box is the part you need,I can't remember about the wire.It should be obvious if you need the wir when you get the parts.The smaller part is to eliminate the not seat belt fasten noise as when you fit the emulater ,the ecu thinks the seat is occupied .
