change or not

at present i have a 2.0 sport in mineral white with cognac seats and comfort pack and 19 inch alloys as upgrades , white was never really my first choice , i have now seen a san Francisco red m sport with black seats park assist pack and wind deflector, std 18 inch alloys, which i think with my other car i could to a deal on, I'm I mad to change i really like the m sport and red cars , it has the wind deflector and rear camera which are 2 things that i would like also the front grille has been changed for a black one and the exhaust tips ,the comfort package on the sport we don't use any of it apart from the wind deflector comfort access is turned off and never used the heated steering wheel and don't play golf or ski so load through no use.
my only concern is going to be the ride as the sport will have softer suspension but it does have 19 inch alloys , the m sport will come with the std 18 inch alloys so will have a thicker tyre wall so the 2 may cancel each other out and the ride is the same . has anyone driven the std M sport without the adaptive suspension and found it too hard.

I have the 2.0i M Sport (in red with black interior) and I think that the standard suspension is great. I was put off the Z4 by the awful ride on my wife's mark one version and it was only when I read the reviews of the current model which all stated that the ride was much improved did I consider buying one

thanks ian j for your response as it is not near to me going to have go in a bit blind but most reviews refer to the adaptive m sport suspension so good to know you have the std with 18 inch alloys with no issues

I’m a bit iffy about hard suspension, I’ve had E89s both with and without MSport.

I’m in a G29 non MSport now and it suits me just fine, a bit of sciatica in the right leg so that’s my choice.

I’m more impressed with tech gadgets these days so I ordered my current car with the tech package, no brainer for me, includes HUD, Harmon Kardon sounds, reversing assistant etc. I see your SFR car has reversing camera so it must have the full tech package. Definite plus for me.

No one can advise on suspension, it’s each to their own on this. I would definitely go for a test drive regardless of the inconvenience.

yep my local dealer has one with m sport suspension and 18 inch alloys so going to take that out at the weekend.

well made the change and couldn't be happier , the msport with 18 inch wheels drives like a dream and definitely handles and rides better then the sport with 19 inch alloys, mrs also reckons the car looks smaller in red than it did in white. anyway couple of pics from our weekend away

Glad you are liking it OP.

I think it looks great, but then I've never been a fan of white cars - I love red though!

Looks good. Interesting opinions on the 18" wheels against the 19"

I have the M Sport with 19" wheels and agree the ride is firmer than I would like but getting used to it.

Would appreciate some detailed feedback once you have driven your new version for a while.

Sorry, looks like I'm late to the party. Congratulations! I recently picked up a 30i with the M Sport package, without the adaptive suspension, 19" wheels, and I'm very pleasantly surprised with the ride. I too was concerned and anticipated having to purchase an 18" tire and wheel package to get reasonable ride comfort. I'm happy to be wrong.

Well half way through a trip around France , and still pleased with the ride and the car definite improvement over the sport with19’s on , and it certainly likes the open French mountain roads
