Change locks on upvc doors

well actually, i swear by GT85 as my preferred product - works well and makes you feel great when you use it cos it smells lovely...

the old saying:
if it moves and it shouldn't = duct tape
if it doesn't move and it should = WD40

WD40 isn’t a lubricant tho.
Get a can of light spray lubricant when you buy the new lock barrels

Hmm, wd40 claim it’s a lubricant Ron :?

The traditional WD40 isn't a lubricant, just a Water Dispersant. They have a new range (confusing) which is a lubricant, but that is just a different product, also under the WD40 banner.

That was my understanding as well.
I didn’t know an updated range had been released!

This is the traditional wd40, the manufacturer claims it gives long lasting lubrication :?

If you rub it between your fingers it has a waxy feel like diesel....Def a lubricant but it's main purpose is a water repellent and displacement. Trick of all trades. :D

Is it practical to remove one barrel and take it to the likes of scewfix and make sure you get the right one?

How far is the nearest place you can buy locks?

Unfortunately there are no other locks on these two doors, so that would mean leaving the house “unlocked”.

I think I’ll whip them out and measure and hopefully the measurements will match what’s listed on the website.

Haven’t looked yet where the nearest screwfix type place is, but must be something reasonably close.

Another option is to buy a couple in each size then return the ones I don’t need.
Loan a big dog and leave it in the Bungalow :D

Did you get this sorted ok?

Went up during Christmas and New Year and spent the day taking crap to the dump that was left behind and then at 1830 started dismantling the sofa that had been dumped outside….luckily I took my circular saw and cut it into pieces and fitted it in the car (1 series) and bought that back to Devon and took it to my dump the following morning.

There were 3 external doors, the main front door and two on the conservatory, all with different keys so I decided to just leave them as they were….was 2030 before I left so would’ve been much later if I’d done the locks.

Hopefully it will all go through this coming Friday and I can just wash my hands of it!

Was useful to get info from you all about how to change them in case I need to do mine.
