Change coil packs. Now steering isn’t working?!?

Hi all,

So I’m a bit confused. I changed the coil packs in the car today, no Problems there. But now. My steering isn’t working. I get 45 degrees one way and 90 the other but then it jambs. Any ideas..?

Did you lose any tools while doing this?
Maybe something has fallen down the side of the engine and is jamming at the steering joint.

Exactly this. I just went back out with misses in hand turning the wheel while I had a look. An engine cover bolt that went missing in the process had dropped into the steering rack.... thought it was very odd how coil packs would’ve effected the steering.

I was actually very grateful it did it about 50 yards up the street. Could’ve been a very different story if I had made it to the dual carriageway

Funnily enough that very day while topping up the windscreen washers I was looking at the steering joints beside the engine and it was the first thing that popped into my head when I read this.
To be honest I wasnt expecting to be almost correct.
