Ceramic coatings

Hi all
Bit of advice required my 2003 Maldives blue zed is going for the beginning of his makeover next Thursday,two days of detailing at Alspray in Newcastle then a week later service and alloy refurbishment .
What I’m wondering is after the detailing should put a ceramic coat on the paintwork or leave and later polish .
I’ve read that ceramic is supposed to have more benefits than wax but having read the comprehensive reports on detailing on the forum I’m wondering what would you do to a new detaining job ceramic or wax

I used soft99 fusso light on mine, I think that’s technically a sealant. It claims 12 months protection and although I did occasionally top up with SONAX brilliant shine detailer it did last 12 months. It was easy to apply and had excellent hydrophobic properties, gloss wasn’t bad but you would probably get better gloss with a wax.
 
Ceramic is very much an "apply and leave" kind of thing..

If you enjoy cleaning and waxing the car then a good wax will do the job.Generally a wax will leave the colour looking richer and warm,sealants and ceramic offer a sharper look.



Personally i like waxing the car,and for the money there is some brilliant products about. You can get Kiwami extreme Hybrid for around £22 and this will last you a lifetime,its superb..

Ceramic is a lot more expensive to buy and apply...... It all depends on what you want to do with ongoing care of the car.
 
You should not need to do anything if you are have a professional 2 day detail on the car they will have prepped polished and applied an LSP to the paintwork.

Ceramic coatings need to be applied in a sterile environment not outside and as said are not cheap I prefer to wax my car topping it up every few months.
 
All the ceramic coats that are available as a diy are a complete waste of time in my experience.
