Had no idea about this until yesterday!
Does anyone have before and after pics, ball park prices and places in South Yorkshire where its done.
For anyone who's had it done.....any regrets.
Appreciate any comments

I had it on my last C63..

Im a bit of a wax messer but got the Merc done as my friend has a detailing company an is one of the best about.. I have to say over the 14 months i had the car i was very impressed,a quick wash brought the car to fantastic condition.

Like anything, prep is the key....... A proper job will lat years..

Thanks I'll give it a look

I've tried the Gyeon Q2 Can Coat. It's more of an entry level ceramic coating and really was noticable after 3 months of daily use. Given that that was in the West Coast of Scotland weather I'd say I was impressed.

There's loads of videos on YouTube on the different coatings and there's a few that'll last 5 years if done properly.

The prep is very important from start to finish before the ceramic coating is applied.

After the ceramic coating is applied the after application requirements need to be followed so that it cures properly. That could be heat lamps or leaving the car in a garage for 24 hours. Have heard that some can take 2 - 3 weeks depending on humidity and temperature.

Certainly worth doing based on the results I had. I'm considering going for a more expensive coating in the next few weeks.

Blimey sounds good, only use mine 6 months of the year so maybe worth a punt!

Best thing I’ve noticed about the ceramic coating I’ve applied (Carbon Collective) is you can literally wash your car with a hose pipe!!!

It does harden your paint, which on a Z given how easily the paint scratches is a good idea.

Worth mentioning I’ve used several different waxes before but none have given the finish of the Ceramic Coating...or the durability.

+1 for the prep.

Detailing guy I was speaking to recently says he not been that impressed with g-technic stuff, Says there are good in the beginning and thats where all the good reviews come from but does wear out quickly after 6 months. Really didnt rate the fabric roof coating they did, Said he had to do a few customer cars again in 9 months etc.

Said he has been using Carpro coatings for a while and they last better.

Cant confirm any of them but he certainly knows his stuff and would take his word for it.

Got the G-technic stuff on the Cayman. After 13 months, she still looks like the day she rolled out of the dealership. After going to France in the summer, and 1400 miles of dead flies etc, they came off without any effort.

So far, I have been impressed as the water still beads like it has just been waxed. Time will tell how long it lasts. Car is garaged and not done many miles so maybe with more washes, it would have deteriorated.

i see the development in these coatings when i tour around the different facilities for work .... Fantastic stuff, and really will keep the car looking fantastic for your ownership with regular maintenance washes , 2 bucket method and alittle care in general. I WISH i would have done this too all my cars when they were new. PPF is the best paint protector out there , but a completely different price point.

Yep ppf is the way forward if the cars nearly new or you’ve had a front end respray ect . I’d like to get the front sprayed on my car and then ppf ... but it’s eye watering how much it costs

Anyone seen or tried this at all, thinking of giving it a go?

Got the coating done about 6 months ago and its brilliant, I just go to the self serve jet washes and use the high pressure rinse to clean the car now, £2 and a good spray and the car is spotless again! 100% recommended!

I cannot reiterate enough though about the prep work its absolutely imperative that you prep the car properly and let it cure correctly (says me that had a detailer do it for me) the aftercare is also important, no waxing, polishing or really shampooing of any major kind as it will just cover or remove the coating making it pointless.
I would say though that getting the car the star treatment full professional machine polish and wax then getting the coating done is probably the best possible practice.

A wax down before applying the coating? Never seen that done before...?

To be fair I could be talking out my arse
And now that I think about it.... it doesnt make sense to wax before applying the coating

Interesting discussion of ceramic coating layering, waxing etc...

Personally I bought 5 bottles of Mr Fix 9H
Official Video - 9H Mr Fix Car Nano Ceramic Coating How to Use
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PD4AFv774cc

9H Mr Fix -s1.PNG
Prep the vehicle - Wash, detox the paint, cut and polish as necessary, mask off vulnerable parts

9H Mr Fix -s2.PNG
Mist the car with a water sprayer,
Apply 4-5 drops to the cloth
Wipe onto the vehicle in a left to right and top to bottom motion (i.e. not circles) on an area of about 40cm x 40cm
Apply 1-2 drops (top up) to cloth and continue with rest of panel/vehicle, repeat topping up liquid onto the cloth as you go.

9H Mr Fix -s2-2.PNG
After the appropriate time has passed - summer 5 mins, winter 5-10 mins, wipe off with a damp microfibre without exerting too much force/pressure.

9H Mr Fix -s2-3.PNG
After wiping with the damp microfibre, wipe again with a dry microfibre to achieve an even coating and good lustre. Use a circular motion but the last wipe should go in the direction of future water flow ( i.e. the direction the water would run off the panel).
