Centre front jacking point

Evening all,

I've had a search through a few threads but can't find a definitive answer...... Do face lifts have a centre front jack point, I see the recessed area on the under tray, but can't see if there is anything substantial behind it to take the load?

Cheers

Stu.

And for the avoidance of doubt don't look at the alloy cross member and think 'that looks like a nice lifting spot'. As a minimum you'll need to realign your steering and as a couple have found you can turn the cross member into a banana and have to buy another, then re-align

Bloody stupid it's only on the M - never understood that

Another argument for when we have the M versus 3.0 discussions in the future

Bigger engine, LSD and .... central jacking point :D

Agree with Bing.......I tried jacking it the alternative way (Jacking the rear high enough to get a stand under the front), ended up about 30mm short - A**e :|

Isn't the facelift the same/ similar as the M though??! With regard to the front jacking point that it ...

Edit - Actually I'm more confused now I've gone onto the other forums. I'm sure I found some decent info a while back. Forget what I've said for now.

You and me both Pal - Im sure I read that face lift (Roadster and coupe) could be lifted from a central point at the front. But it seems that Isn't the case.

Cheers Stu, I'm not going mad. I've jacked from it with confidence ... Maybe I shouldn't have but I found something done time ago about it being different in the facelift. But don't go off my word at all - don't want to be responsible for anybody folding their zed like origami ;-)

Just for the record, TIS suggest's that there is a central front jacking point on face lift models (I didn't think I was losing the plot).......So who's going to give it a go?

I did when I changed my springs in the summer :-s

I need to change the front reinforcement plate at some point, I shall have a look when I do. Tbh I think my car is too low to even get a low profile car jack under the front though

I have taken a picture before of the M jacking point, let me see if I can find it. I have NOT seen this on any non M though.

And there definitely isn't a hockey-puck for the facelift (non-m) oops

That is definitely not on my facelift car, as it looks to be part of the reinforcement plate that I need to replace. I have a spare one waiting to go on in the garage and it doesn't have the jacking point. It also doesn't have the air vent at the right of the picture, so obviously a part unique to the M.

Just had a look under mine - where the jacking point is indicated on TIS there's a shallow recess about the size of the side jacking points. The point is I can't see what and in that case how close there is anything behind it, but as Tom's already used it ...... What could possibly go wrong  .

To be honest, jacking one side, sticking an axle stand under, then jacking the other side...will take you about 5mins more than trying to use a jacking point that's not there... And will avoid risking buggering up the front axle.
