Centre console removal

Was thinking of replacing the brushed aluminium down the centre console in the car as it has a few marks on it and giving it a bit of a rework, how difficult is it to remove just this part of the console, or does the whole lot need to come out?

Whole lot needs to come out. I could take one out in 15 mins now but a less experienced person could take an hour. Search and theres a guide somewhere i think.

Wow - 15mins would be a fine effort - there's bound to be one screw / connector that doesn't budge! Certainly >1 hour if you've not done it before.

Couldn't find a 'how-to' myself, and it's the whole centre section that needs to come out, including the bit between the seat backs with the cubby hole in it.

Worse bit for me was removing the knee pads without damaging them. I think an hour is pushing it a bit for a first timer.

srhutch, Guiseley, if there is no how-to, where are your write-ups :poke: :P

 I need a new centre console - who's doing the "how to"? :)

You just need to get yours wrapped in leather a la Guiseley - would look lovely. I want a leather dash & centre console

Once the bank balance is replensished (it's a modtastic month, and my wallet has been violated) I'll be looking to wrap in leather, or get a piano black centre

Took me about two hours, but I recon half of that was cursing at those knee pads :headbang:

Have a look at these, it will give you an idea of what's involed,

If your Italians any good,

i used the italian guide and just translated it using google. was hard work doing it for the first time, and a bit daunting. but easy enough to get out. it's just the mountain of screws you accumulate and have to find where they go back that's the problem.

Has anyone removed the center console with the Sport button?

It seems to be connected and cannot remove the console itself until something is done with the sport button first. The console won't lift away...why am I seem to be the only one in the world having this problem :x

Please help

Mine had sports button and dont remember it being an issue. Remove the ashtray section and you should be able to get to the connector to unplug.

My experience was like hutch. Need to unscrew and remove ashtray (rotate around far edge - if that makes sense) and think wires are long enough to reach through and disconnect switch.
