When I had my handbrake replaced it involved removing a fair amount of the under side of the car, including exhaust and heat shield and various other bits. All to undo a bolt holding it in from the underside. Its a pig of a job. The mechanic that did mine said if he had realized how much of a hassle it was he would have turned the job down. If your under side is heavily rusted it causes alot of complications, which mine was.
