Centre caps???

Hi all,

I'm getting my wheels refurbished this week and would like to fit them with new centre caps.
I've looked on fleabay but the prices are all over the place!
Genuine or after market, I'm looking for decent quality...which will mean genuine I assume!
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks as usual for the assistance!

:driving:

I've got a set of black carbon fiber ones to offload if you go down the aftermarket route. Bought them for my new wheels but decided to stick with the BBS caps that they came with in the end so they've never been used. Come to think of it I have some blue carbon fiber ones too on my old wheels. Both good quality.

Other than that you can wait for someone to pop up on here with some oem ones or as you say, ebay.

ive got ebay caps on mine - think they were 7 quid. Even if you had to buy a set every year it would take you 5 years before you got to the price of genuine ones and iv'e had no problems - not using acid wheel cleaner defo helps the longevity.

Where did you get them done? And was it a good finish?
Only asking as I had the X6 wheels done at the place in Tradeston and although they are ok I felt they could have been better.
They had to redo the 2 rear wheels a week later as the lacquer starting lifting at 2 points.
When its time to get the Z4 wheels done I will be trying somewhere else.

I tried putting some BMW caps on mine the other week when I done the stud conversion and noticed the AVA badges were tatty..... turns out my wheels need a 60mm(I think) set?? Anybody know if this is possible?

Thanatu55 - do you have any pics of the carbon ones... never seen these before!

Thanks.

Nictrix - I've not got them back yet! Gordon Hazelton in Hillington is doing them with new tyres! I'll let you know how they come out!

Thanks

Thanks for all the replies so far!! Keep up the good work...

Not cheap but Oe all the way with badges for me as cheaper ones look cheap in comparison despite what some may say

You get what you pay for

I went for ebay specials. 6.50 for a full set and they still lool brand new now.
It was discussed on this thread a while back so some of the links may still work.

I have some cheap ones on my wheels, and a genuine BMW one sitting in its plastic bag. With them side by side you can see the better quality/heft of the genuine one, but to me I don't think its worth the huge extra cost. Once the cheap ones are on the wheels you're hard pressed to notice much difference.

Sure, Black CF.

I don't have the blue to hand as they are on my old wheels locked away, but these are the bonnet and boot badge in CF.

And this is when they were on the car.

I'm not really going to make any money back on them so if you want a set in either colour they're yours. The only one I'd want a bit of money for is the bonnet badge as it's a rare size and cost me a fair whack.

I have to say, everyone has their own opinions but I really liked them when they were on the car. They just don't go with the wheels I have now.

I purchased the cheap ones from ebay and then gave them a coating of spray sealant. They still look good so not worth spending a lot.

They last and no offence but easy to spot

No offence taken. I should have said that 99% of the population would be hard pressed to spot whether the wheel caps are OEM or aftermarket. The other 1% live on this forum

I've found the non-BMW centre caps to look a bit cheap next to BMW ones, but on their own - no problem. The old BMW ones that had a removable metal roundel were a great idea but seem to corrode quickly... the new one-piece BMW ones seem quite good though. The one-piece non-BMW ones don't tend to last as well in my experience, and sometimes are a bit wobbly in the wheel centre....
Trouble with BMW ones is that they're not cheap - I kept a hopeful eye out on eBay but eventually caved and bought from BMW's eBay store. There seem to be quite a few fake BMW ones around on eBay....

As for M stickers - I had some (fake ones) for about £4 a set off eBay, they fell off within a week ha! Probably would have benefitted from a little bit of epoxy resin or something to hold them onto the wheel since they never sat properly in the recess...ah well...another job for next summer!
