Central locking problem - Help!

Hi all,

Just got my z4 but has a problem with the CL. When I open the car using the remote the interior lights turn on as it should but the doors dont unlock so I have to use the actual key. Once the drivers door is unlocked using the key the passenger door doesnt open and has to be opened from inside. Whats really wierd is the central locking locks the car via the remote so it seems like its a problem with opening the car only.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I'm fairly certain this is the central locking motor's sticking. Mine used to do it on the drivers side. I stripped down the doorcard and lubricated around the central locking motor liberally and it worked OK.

You can actually feel the motors sticking if you don't use the button on the key and just try to unlock with the key itself. It'll be stiff. Once lubricated I worked this back and forth for a while and it seemed to solve it.

I'll give this a try. There is definitely some resistance when I put the key in and turn. Are the door cards held on by screws or do they just clip on?

4 screws if I recall (1 on door handle, 2 on door pull and 1 under the airbag cover). Plastic push clips around the perimeter of the door card. A search on the forum will throw up the TSB.

Have a search for topics on the GM5 module as well. It sounds like it could be that. Mine had similar symptoms.
