Central locking issue

I’ve got an issue with my passenger door in that it won’t unlock on the central locking and I have to open the door from the inside. It does lock on the central locking .

Ross at RBM mentioned my window regulator was noisy and sure enough it’s given up the ghost.

Do you think these two are related or is there anything simple worth looking at?

Gonna piggyback this thread! I've got a similar problem. No issue with the window regulator, so not that part, but the passenger door wasn't unlocking the other night. The fella I bought the car off (a mate who is a retired Nissan Factory Test Mechanic) mentioned that the control module need a boot up the arse every now and then, and that if the remote key fob didn't unlock the doors properly to press the central locking button in the centre console a hand full of times and it normally kicks the system back into life a bit. That wasn't doing much good yesterday, but today I opened the passenger door from the inside, then tried the central locking button in the car again and it worked intermittently. So the dodge control module will be the gm5 module that I've heard mentioned a few times now right? Does someone do refurbs then? Could a replacement/refurbs gm5 sort out the wayward remote central locking issue, and new relays the intermittent door locking issues?

I'll try to post an update once I've got my head around it and fitted a repair!

It sounds like there isn't much charge in the battery inside the key.

It charges when you use the car so if, like many of us, you haven't been using the car much that would explain the battery not having much charge. So going for a good drive may help. :driving:

Alternatively some have had some success sitting keys next to a wireless charger for something like an electric toothbrush - but don't expect instant results as my toothbrush takes over 12 hours to charge fully!

It is possible to replace the rechargeable battery, but as that involves cutting the key open other options might be worth trying first.

I have the exact same issues. The passenger door (right door over here) won’t unlock. I remember it unlocked successfully a few times long time ago, so it does not seem to come from one day to another. Can it be the GM5 then?! :?

Tonight I removed the door panel, and the conclusion is, that the locking mechanism sounds to be alive (I hear the click loud and clear). Again - can it be the GM5 then?!
The pin moves fine and does not seem to be stuck, as some suggest.

My BMW workshop says it is inside the box with the lock mounted there is a failure. It will cost approximately £140 for a replacement plus labor ~£150. The car has been in their tester, but not sure if they located the failure that way. I would hate to pay this amount if it is ‘just’ a DYI or some lubrication. :driving:

So is there a fix in my case or can it only be the GM5?

I'm having the same problem, but for me it's drivers door (left). It was working fine, but then a while ago it sometimes started not unlocking, until it gave up entirely. Went to BMW shop, so they diagnosed it was issue with a "comfort module" (part number 61356963038 I believe). The box itself can be found rather cheap ~40-50€, but I was told it is not plug-and-play and the whole thing needs to be reprogrammed (which adds A LOT of € on top). Can anyone confirm?
