Central locking failure / Opening fuel cap

Hi

Ive taken temporary çustody of a friend's 2003 3.0l Z4 for a few months and have a rather big problem.

Firstly the fuel gauge doesn't work, which I'm not too fussed about. Just make sure I refill every 400km or so.

Anyway, this morning upon setting out to work, as I was pulling out of the car park the car stopped. It is making all the sounds of having run out of fuel after a measly 340km (fair enough, I did play around in Sport mode for 120km of that yesterday). However, now for the big problem. Since I've taken custody of it, I've not been able to open the passenger door from the outside, its had to be opened from the inside. However today, it will not open at all. This therefore means that the fuel cap won't open, presumably as the car isn't fully unlocked.

Does anyone know a way that I can get the fuel cap open without the car being unlocked?!

Cheers

There is an emergency fuel lock release from within the boot, behind the rear light on the side of the fuel flap if you need access to it.
