Central Locking Actuator

Anyone know the part number for the passenger side central locking actuator or maybe somewhere to purchase one from so I don't need to spend ~£180 at BMW?

I'm sure there'll be one on eBay but I'm not having much success tracking it down.

Nick, not sure if is the right side or not but says it’s compatible with your car with a couple of caveats

I bought one of these a while ago - it came from Lloyds BMW Carlisle, it's a pretty standard part and a decent price for OEM. Don't be tempted to buy a cheaper one off ebay.

I'd seen the Wales trip, surprised a Scot could bypass Blackpool though

The OP is only a short distance away from me, I'd be happy for him to drive 30 mins and do it on my drive if it suits depending on confidence, can be done in 30 mins and I'll chuck a brew in at that.

Was searching on eBay using E89 / central locking / actuator keywords which explains why I was getting nowhere.

Looks like someone needs to brush up on his search skills :lol:

No problems, always happy to help a fellow forum member. The hardest bit is removing the screw cap located in the rear of the door pocket. New actuator also has stiff seals so need to pull it back quite hard to relocate the 3 screws that hold it in place. Other than that, remove and refit the outer handle Bowden cable with the actuator moved out to the aperture of the door, much easier, also make sure the inner Bowden cable is located within the slot on the inner side of the door card. Anything else just ask.

This weekend when the auto lock engaged we were hearing 3-4 loud clicks (which I now deduce is slipping gears within the mechanism) from the passenger door area. Upon investigation I noticed the door lock plunger wasn't moving as I locked and unlocked the door via the central button. Andy recognised the symptoms and here we are.

Sounds like you are on the right track then, the reason for changing mine was different and didn't actually fix the problem. I'll send you a PM with my number, feel free to ask for help if you need it.

The auto lane departure corrected the car and kept it on the motorway when I started taking that slip road :wink: :lol:
