Centeral Door Locking

My centeral door locking has started playing up :x .

It will not open via the button on the key, I'm sure it's not down to the key as it still locks and the alarm engages ok after I open the door manualy and the boot release also works. I've also tried the spare key and it's just the same.

I've tried the button just behind the gear leaver and I get the same result, will lock but not open, there is a faint click that soundslike it's trying. Also the passenger door will not open from the inside with the handle.

Anybody got any ideas before I start waving the spanners at it :( .

I have an issue with mine from time to time - the locking tends to start playing up if I use the door lock button by the gear leaver. When it has happened I just the key to open, after a while the key starts working fine. Is most odd. Doesn't always happen when I use the centre console button, but it does follow within a few locks / unlocks if it does fail.
 
Both doors will not unlock or just driver's? If just driver's, could be a bad connection/shorted wiring or the lock driver motor itself. If both sides stopped unlocking suddenly at the same time, the central module may need to be reflashed.

I'm just speculating, don't do anything I suggest without independent confirmation.
