Center Console Lighting

I've had this in for a while now without having hooked it up so today I finally got around to seeing it in action. I've connected it to the ignition feed so it comes on automatically whenever I start the car. In the darker pictures towards the end the light is a thin soft white light in person, but the camera exaggerates the effect. On camera it seems distracting but it's really quite soothing during use.

Anyway, here are the pics.

That looks ace.
I always thought the Z4 looks dull at night and that brightens it up.

Where did you get the lighting from?

I got it from Bimmian.com
https://bimmian.com/Accessories-for-BMW/Lighting/Interior/Electroluminescent-Accent-Light-Piping/

It looks a bit tron, so not to my liking

My fiesta st has a similar strip above the glove box, but in red. Seems to work well as it's not as bright as the white.

These aren't half as bright in person, it's more of a soft glow. The camera magnifies it, unfortunately I can't get a better picture of it it's just the way the camera picks it up. Notice in pitch black it doesn't illuminate the gear knob and handbrake at all, a brighter light would have an effect on them.

It's a much thinner line too in person. The first two daylight pics are a closer representation of all lighting conditions.

How did you attach it?

It has a tab on one side that feeds into the gap where any two trims meet. I already had the center console out for another job so I did it with the trim off and secured it down better when screwing all the bits together but you can just push it in there without removing anything.

Really nice that! Where did you take the feed from?

I took the feed from the fuse box behind the glove compartment. I had already ran my DRL's to the fuse box so I used the same feed to get it to come on with them.

Absolutely love it, now just the door cards and under car lighting to go :)

You should try and kook them up to your dash light brightness knob so they can be turned down for motorway driving.

Looks cool, but I must say at night I prefer as close to darkness in the car as I can get, so I have no distractions. If I had that I would probably spend too much time admiring it and not enough time looking at the road.

To be honest they really aren't that bright enough to distract on the motorway but I see where you're coming from. As I mentioned to ben g the camera really does amplify the amount of light, they're more ambient than they are bright. The danger is probably as Magicarcher says admiring it too much as in person it's just a soft outline of the center consoles lovely curves and it's really quite purrrty :D
