cement dust (pics added - pg2)

Never come across this before Taz but would'nt trust to luck if i were you, it is a corrosive substance.

obviously i will be ultra careful when i wash it, but if i just leave it on will it cause problems

a d**k head nearby is building some garages, he his taking all the time in the world and making very much dust as he can

i have the option of just leaving it and washing when he as finished or washing it every day

I live in an area where there are a number of cement mills and those that live nearby those mills tell me that it damages anything it comes in contact with.

When traditional Portland cement is mixed with water the dissolution of calcium, sodium and potassium hydroxides produces a highly alkaline solution pH ~13 :headbang: not exactly great for the paintwork!

wet cement burns (humans anyway) so it won't do your paint any good. There was a thread on DW as some guys Porsche got covered and needed either full correction or re spray.

Would try and wash off daily or park somewhere else.

Keep washing it or else you're gonna have a pig of a job getting it off once it "sets" on your paintwork, you'll be needing at least a full correction to sort it out...

The dust will be abrasive. So i would hose really well first and then use 2 bucket process with a micro fibre

today its too cold to wash it, i knew i should have also plumbed an hot tap outside
