Having just bought a Z4 how can i tell if it has the CDV fitted or not ???????
As the car has done 125000 i am going to have the clutch and DMF replaced all at the same time next week as i think it will be due soon, plus my work bonus has come through so thought why not ! at least i will know its going to last some time and be worry free :)
Do Z4 have a very high biting point ??? mine bites at the last inch or so from top.

There are two ways:

1. it's already been removed completely, this will be obvious as the CDV is gone.
2. You will have to remove the CDV if it's in place and blow through from either end. You will find one way is restricted. If both are the same then the internals have been removed which is the same as removing the CDV completely.
 
having just done the same :D i could think of better ways to spend the cash. do they both need replacing?

getting the cdv done is worth.

Valve is on the right hand side of gearbox if looking towards the front of the car.

Put a hose clip on the left of the pipe (if looking at it from perspective of the pic) then remove and reconnect the two pipes and your done... no bleeding necessary.
 
Well the intention was to have just a new clutch fitted as i only had an inch or so left on the peddle, it was only after i got a call from the garage to come down and have a look what they found that i decided to have the DMF as well, there is so much play between the plates and its all very rattly, considering its the original DMF from new and has done over 125000 it ain't done bad, it would be false economy not to do it all while its all in bits, OK its gonna cost me £710 for clutch, DMF and labour but i dread to think what might happen if the DMF gives up shortly after having a new clutch fitted, no brainier really, i have the spare cash handy so might as well get it all sorted :D

Yes agree there's better things i can do with the cash but by not doing it all now will cost me more later.

The other part of my question was how do i tell if the CDV was fitted or not, how can you tell from inside in the drivers seat ?????
 
From the drivers seat it's hard. But if the car is in having the clutch done they can tell you if the CDV is there. If so just remove it, job done.
