Cdv removal clutch delay valve OMG!

Well I was gonna attempt it whilst up on the ramps... now mikes talk of master cylinders etc has scared me a little.... I don’t even know where or what that is 
I’ve done all the cosmetic work on my car myself, but I’ve been very conscious of touching brakes or clutch etc as that’s well past my ability.... I guess I’ll see how brave I feel on Saturday when it’s up on the ramps

Quick question, in my old car I would depress the go faster pedal at the same time as I started to release the clutch pedal, in the Alpina I have to start releasing the clutch before I start applying the accelerator. Is it the CDV causing this behaviour. maybe thats why my clutch control has gone to pot, and it has nothing to do with age/reaction times

Yes, that's the CDV doing what it's designed to do. No matter how fast you release the clutch, it will only ever close at it's own speed due to the CDV, hence your need to release it before hitting the gas. Remove it and you will probably stall the first time you pull away as the clutch will be fully engaged before you hit the gas..

I cant imagine how bad it was before, I was hoping I could improve the 1/2nd gear change, but I guess this is as good as it gets. :lol:
Hah, yeah that’s what I thought too. There’s a notch right in the middle of the shift. Helps a bit if you change “backhand”, i.e. palm facing outwards.
My car was in Munich Legends in Sussex recently having the ABS pump repaired, I said whilst you're there can you whip the CDV off, and they said yes but we'll have to order a braided hose to replace the rubber one! I said I thought it was a simple job of just removing the little CDV and joining the two pipes together!
I said don't bother then!

WTF never heard that one before! Did they give you any sort of rationale for this? Honestly can't see one for removing the CDV device itself. I've done the CDV delete...but also a weighted gear nob and changed the gear box oil to Millers - I only get the notch a slight bit sometimes now.

I dont have any direct experience of Munich Legends but they do seem to have let's say "mixed reviews" on various car forums. It is though isn't it? Its been proved in this thread how easy it is with no need for any bloody braided hose! Maybe Dhobbs needs to point them in the direction of this thread...
