a while back i did the mod to my cdv by knocking out the restrictor and refitting the valve, the cleared hole is now still only about 3mm diameter, and though loads better is still not as good a feel as other clutches, question is if i remove the whole valve, ( the pipes still connect without it ) will I feel an even better clutch ? anyone else tried both options, thanks

If the hole is 3mm I don't think you will notice much difference when you completely remove the valve, but why did you put the (modified) valve back? Are you sure there is no air in the system, maybe bleed again just to be sure.
