CDV & dodgy ash tray connection

Got my new Coupe last wek and I have a couple of minor gripes. Over all I love it but if I could get these problems sorted it would made it perfect.

1) When I change from 1st to second I get a bit of noise from the gearbox (or at least i think it is) almost like I have not fully disengaged 1st. I have heard a few people mention removing the CDV, will this help and how easy is it, could I get it done under warranty if I complain about the gear change?

2) when I plug a charging device into my cigarette lighter the item being charged often looses charge if I go over a bump or accidentally touch the device that is plugged into the lighter. My old car was a bit dodgy but this is much worse.

I also notice than when i turn the engine off I get a bit of clatter from I think the gear box, however when I depress the clutch no clatter sound is present. I have heard this is a technique M owners use so thought I would try it to see if it made any difference and it does. Not sure if anything is amiss or just one of those things some cars do, maybe needing an adjustment or something is loose, or CDV again?

Altering the CDV will void the warranty on the gearbox - but is worthwhile to do it.
Do a search here for CDV - the write up is brilliant.
Switching off with the clutch depressed alleviates the rattle - it's normal.

Happy motoring and try not to end up in a ditch. (Harder than it sounds.)
